My Bots Get Up Before I Do
DeAnn Haley ·
Here's my confession: the best employees I've ever had start work at 5 a.m., never complain, and don't need a parking spot.
They're Grok Bots, and they've changed how I run my business.
We've seen a lot of new innovations over the past several years, but I have to be honest: this is different. Let me show you what it actually looks like.
Meet my morning crew
By the time I pour my coffee, the work has already started. While I sleep, my Grok Bots are busy.
One goes through my email and flags what needs me. One reads LinkedIn so I don't have to scroll, and hands me the people and posts worth my time. One keeps me current on the latest AI model releases, which we all know change practically by the week. One watches the markets that matter specifically to my business. One kicks off my evals overnight whenever a new model comes out, so the test results are waiting for me instead of me having to keep up with every release. Others prep my calls, draft my articles, and keep an eye on my website.
Over all of them sits my chief of staff, a bot that manages the other bots. His name is Commander, and he's the only one I actually work with day to day. He routes the work, keeps everyone on task, and sends me a summary of what got done.
I wake up to a briefing from Commander that tells me where to focus that day: what came in, what matters, what needs me, and what can wait.
My Tesla is now an office
This is the part that still surprises me. I drive a Tesla with Grok built in, so on the way to the office I just talk. I ask for research on someone I'm meeting, think out loud about a new idea, or get a draft started on something I've been chewing on.
By the time I park and sit down at my desk, it's all there in Grok. The research is done. The draft is waiting. My notes from the drive are already organized.
The commute used to be dead time. Now it's often where my best work begins.
Summaries, all day long
Several times a day, I get a rundown of what's been done and what's next. Not a flood of notifications. A clear summary I can read in a couple of minutes.
Add it up and it saves me several hours a day. When you're running a business, that's everything. Those hours go back into the things only I can do: talking with people, making decisions, and building relationships.
It honestly feels like having seven people working full time on my behalf, each one getting me exactly what I need to be successful.
But I'm still the boss
Here's the line I never cross: the bots do the legwork, and I make the calls. Nothing goes out with my name on it until I've read it and said yes. Not an email, not a post, not a word on my website.
That's not me being cautious for the sake of it. The bots are fast, but they don't know a client's history, the tone of a relationship, or when something is technically correct and still not right. That judgment is the job. The bots just clear the path so I have time to use it.
And yes, I edit them. A lot. This article went through several rewrites. That's the deal: they get me to a strong starting point, and I take it from there.
What this means for any business
If you run a business of any size, you know the work I'm talking about. Email, research, prep, follow-ups, notes, reports. It has to happen, but it keeps you away from the work that actually grows the business.
That's where Grok Bots earn their keep. You don't need a giant team or a big IT project. Give each bot one clear job, let them work while you sleep and while you drive, and keep yourself in charge of what goes out the door.
When you get that right, the change isn't small. It's the difference between starting your day behind and starting it ready.
My bots get up before I do. I've stopped feeling guilty about it.
P.S. One more thing. Grok Bot runs my business, but my personal life deserves some help too. That's where Muse comes in. It's another great bot product, built for everyday life outside work. Grok Bot and Muse. And no, I'm not paid to say this. I just really like getting my mornings back.
